Alliance Premium

How Premium Works

Everything you need to know about purchasing, renewing, and managing Alliance Premium — including every edge case.

What is Alliance Premium?

Alliance Premium is a per-alliance upgrade — any member can purchase it, and every member of that alliance unlocks the premium features for as long as it's active. Premium is measured in time: your alliance has a premium_until date, and features are gated on whether that date is in the future.

Common Scenarios

Starting from scratch — no premium
1

Navigate to /pricing.

2

Click Pay Once — $5 for a one-time 90-day period, or Subscribe — $5 / 3 mo to set up auto-renewal immediately.

3

Complete Stripe checkout. Premium is active as soon as the payment webhook is received — typically within a few seconds.

Extending premium you already have

While premium is active, the pricing page shows an Extend — $5 button. Each click adds 90 days on top of your current expiry date — it never resets the clock.

Example: premium until Sep 12 → click Extend → premium until Dec 11.

Switching from Pay Once to Auto-renew

Click Auto-renew — $5 / 3 mo while premium is already active. Your card is saved and a subscription is created, but billing is delayed until your current premium period expires — you are not charged twice.

Example: premium until Sep 12 → subscribe today → first charge on Sep 12, then auto-renews every 3 months.

Canceling subscription
1

Go to Alliance Settings → Billing → Subscription.

2

Click Cancel subscription. This sets the subscription to cancel at the end of the current billing period — premium stays active until then.

3

Changed your mind? Click Resume before the period ends to reactivate the subscription.

Note: canceling the subscription is not the same as losing premium immediately. You keep access until the expiry date.

Guest contribution — no account required
1

Alliance leader generates a Guest Contribution Link from Alliance Settings → Billing.

2

Share the link with anyone — alliance members, friends, or anyone who wants to contribute.

3

The guest pays $5 via Stripe (no account required). Premium is extended by 90 days, stacking on the existing expiry.

Each link has a unique token. Regenerating it invalidates the old link immediately.

Premium expires

When premium_until passes, features immediately revert to free-tier limits. No data is deleted — war records, backups, and placements are all preserved. Renewing restores full access instantly.

The pricing page will show expiry warnings starting 14 days before the expiry date.

Managing Payment Cards

When you subscribe, your card is saved as a payment profile. You can add additional cards from Alliance Settings → Billing.

Multiple cards saved

Cards are listed in priority order. The card with the Next renewal badge will be charged on the next billing date.

You can reorder cards using the ↑ / ↓ arrows, or click Use for next renewal on any card to override the priority order for the next charge only.

Rotating through multiple cards

Enable Rotate profiles in the billing settings to automatically cycle through saved cards on each renewal — useful if you want to spread costs across multiple payment methods.

Removing a card

You can remove any card except the last one while a subscription is active. Removing all cards would leave nothing to charge on renewal, so the last card is protected.

Removed cards are immediately detached from Stripe — they cannot be used for future charges.

Deleting Your Alliance

What happens to billing when an alliance is deleted

Deleting an alliance immediately cancels any active subscription — this is not a cancel-at-period-end; the subscription is canceled right away.

All saved payment methods are permanently detached from Stripe. No refund is issued for unused premium time.

Alliance leaders are responsible for canceling subscriptions before deleting the alliance if they wish to avoid this.

Who Can Purchase?

Alliance Premium is purchased at the alliance level, not per-user. Any member can purchase it on behalf of their alliance — you don't need to be the leader.

As a leader or member

Navigate to /pricing while signed in and in an alliance. Pay Once or Subscribe to upgrade your alliance.

As a guest (no account)

Use a Guest Contribution Link shared by the alliance leader. No Enclave account required — just a Stripe checkout. Your contribution adds 90 days to the alliance's premium.

Frequently Asked Questions

If I subscribe while premium is already active, will I be charged immediately?

No. Billing is delayed until your existing premium period expires. You will not be double-charged.

Does extending premium reset the clock?

No. Extend always adds 90 days on top of your current expiry — it never moves the date backward.

Can I get a refund for unused premium time?

Unused premium time is not refunded — including time remaining when an alliance is deleted.

What happens if a renewal payment fails?

Stripe will retry the charge. If multiple payment cards are saved with rotation enabled, the next card in the rotation will be attempted automatically. If all attempts fail, the subscription will enter a past_due state.

If I cancel the subscription, how long do I keep access?

Until the end of the current billing period — the same date shown in the 'Subscription cancels' warning in Alliance Settings.

Can I transfer premium to another alliance?

No. Premium is tied to a specific alliance. Deleting an alliance forfeits any remaining premium time.
